We’re excited to share that our sister-enterprise Avenue will be joining the Jigsaw community!
As you may have seen in our recent announcement, Jigsaw is strengthening its pathway towards open employment. This means delivering focused support to connect our trainee’s employment goals to the skills and experience needed to move towards mainstream employment.
As part of this transition, Jigsaw is partnering with our sister Fighting Chance enterprise, Avenue. From November, Avenue will expand in Frenchs Forest, and launch alongside Jigsaw in Melbourne and Brisbane, with Canberra to follow in February 2027.
Avenue is an inclusive day program alternative for people with disability, supporting them to complete tasks, socialise, and develop their individual skills, regardless of their support needs.
This is an alternate pathway for people who don’t have a goal of open employment but want to remain part of the Fighting Chance community, where they can continue to build their skills, independence and connections in a supportive environment.
The team at Avenue will be supported by familiar faces, with some members of our current Jigsaw staff shifting to join the new Avenue team. This means the hub will keep the same connections and sense of community that makes our hubs feel so special.
What does this mean for our current Jigsaw trainees?
For our Jigsaw trainees who have a goal of open employment, Jigsaw has some exciting developments ahead to strengthen the pathway towards your employment goals.
We are introducing a more structured, in-depth curriculum along with individual Employment Plans built around strengths, skills, and goals. We are also exploring new Academy opportunities exploring industry-specific skills in areas such as retail, aged care, business administration, and AI.
Our teams have already begun conversations and will continue speaking directly with trainees and families about what these changes mean for each of you and the pathway that best aligns with your goals and support needs. We will also speak with trainees and families to understand how Jigsaw’s new focused pathway aligns with individual employment goals and discuss how we can best support each person moving forward.
